Uri was one of the nicest people I knew: warm, witty,
generous, forgiving, enthusiastic. Collaborating with
Uri was like going to a party. And he was interested
in Everything: perhaps the most versatile scholar in the mathematics of operations research. I will
really really miss him.

Thank you for your friendship and for teaching me so much over the years. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on so many topics ranging from matching and bandit problems to the pleasures of parenting, from the art and craft of writing a good research paper to the latest broadway show! It is a privilege to have worked with you. It was exciting to see you at the white board explaining your latest result or a cute observation. I will miss your kind words, your gentle manner, and your infectious enthusiasm.

Jay

Uri, although we were thousands miles apart, you had been working with us closely pretty much everyday since I started working with you for Mathematics of Operations Research (MOR) in 2010. Your passion for MOR had always been an inspiration. Indeed, just moment before your collapse on March 6, I received the second email from you that day

Dear Jim

Can you handle the attached paper. Eugene would be a natural AE.

Thanks

We miss your leadership for the journal that you had served for so long (since 1979).
