General Information

Micha Yadin was born in Afula, Israel, was married to Aliza and they had three children. He obtained all his degrees at the Technion, and his whole career developed at the Technion. After obtaining the B.Sc. he worked briefly as engineer in the Israel Defense Forces, but returned to the Technion where he was appointed Lecturer in 1966. He progressed steadily to the rank of Full Professor , to which he was promoted in 1980. In 1981 he was appointed to the Josef Gruenblatt Chair in Production Engineering. He held Visiting professorship appointments at Kansas State University during 1966-1968, at COPPE/UFRJ in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, during 1972-1973, and at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois USA during 1978-1980.

Micha Yadin served on almost all administrative positions in the Faculty, among them - Dean of the Faculty (1975-1977), Deputy Dean for undergraduate studies (1971- 1972), Head of the Operations Research Center (1971-1972). He also participated in most major committees of the Technion at large. He also served as the Chairman of the newly established Department of Statistics at Haifa University.

Micha Yadin served as consultant to major Israeli firms, such as Haifa Chemicals Ltd and Solel Boneh Co.. He also was a member of the Board of Examiners of the Ministry of Labor, and President of ORSIS.

His numerous papers were published in the major international journals of his fields of specialization.

Micha Yadin was a mainstay of the Faculty of Industrial Engineering and Management. He grew with the Faculty and the Faculty grew with him. His concepts of a combined industrial engineering and management program became central in the curriculum of the Faculty.

His early death because of a virulent disease deprived the Faculty of one of its most steadfast and devoted staff members. We miss his straightforward commonsense!
